What would you do if you found out the person who just rear ended your car didn't have any insurance on the vehicle? Typically, the cost of your medical bills, damage to your car and the wages you've lost during recovery time would be covered by the negligent or reckless driver's insurance, but if he or she doesn't have insurance or doesn't have enough insurance, are you out of luck? No, you can always sue the uninsured driver yourself.
And, that's exactly what a Florida woman did after an NFL wide receiver rear ended her car after letting his insurance lapse. The man had failed to renew the insurance on his $140,000 Mercedes-Benz when it terminated three days prior to the accident, but that did not stop the woman from suing the man directly and recently being awarded $125,000.
The woman was in Tamarac, Florida, at the time of the accident. It is unclear why the wide receiver failed to notice the woman's car and stop, but the rear-end collision left the woman injured. According to the woman's lawsuit, she injured her neck and back in the accident, and it is unknown if she has been able to recover fully from her injuries.
Driving can be very dangerous and it is of the utmost importance to drive carefully and pay attention to the road. When a driver chooses to drive more recklessly, however, he or she may be liable for any and all accidents that result. In order to hold a bad driver accountable, it is important for any crash victim to contact an experienced motor vehicle accident attorney as soon as he or she has received medical care.
