Everyone in Sarasota knows that stop signs are put up to protect drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists. When a driver chooses not to stop at a stop sign, he or she puts other Florida drivers at risk of injury, property damage or death. For those motorists that are injured because of another driver's negligence or carelessness, the high cost of emergency medical care, long-lasting therapy and repairing a damaged vehicle, can turn a car accident into a serious financial burden for the victims.

In addition to the financial hit of being in a car accident, many people are seriously injured and require extensive care and treatment. For some, they may never fully recover and will live with a disability for the rest of their lives. In this story, an 18-year-old North Port man was critically injured and his brother and the driver of the car they were in were seriously injured after a 23-year-old driver blew through a stop sign and hit their car.

The accident happened at the corner of Yorkshire and Prince boulevards at approximately 5 p.m. As the car being driven by a 42-year-old woman and carrying the 18-year-old and his brother was traveling west on Price, the 23-year-old driving south on Yorkshire failed to stop at the stop sign and smashed into the westbound vehicle's passenger side.

The young man was immediately flown to Blake Medical Center in Manatee County and was admitted in critical condition. His brother and the driver of the car were also airlifted to the hospital, but they were in serious condition. It is unknown exactly what types of injuries they sustained, nor have physicians given the media any information about their likelihood of survival.

If it had not been for one driver's seemingly reckless driving, this family would not be fighting for their lives and racking up considerable medical debt. As soon as their conditions have stabilized and they have recovered somewhat, it is essential that they speak to a motor vehicle accident attorney who can explain how to seek compensation from the 23-year-old for their numerous expenses.
